Note: The following is a letter to my inner-child—an update for the old post, “Humiliation” (<= click link to open in another window)
Beloved Bobbie,
This is your near future self speaking to my inner-child that is you. I was able to deeply empathize with you, and from your perspective at the time, I completely understand why you felt so humiliated, dumb and sad.
I also understand why you lost confidence in raising your hand in class after that moment—whether it was junior high, high school, college and even within military classes, though there were plenty of moments where you courageously did take a chance.
The times you hesitated—though you often found out afterwards that you knew the answers—was due to the fear of being wrong again, and the fear of being ridiculed.
Society has conditioned us to be fearful of many things in life; however, it doesn’t have to be that way anymore.
By expanding our perspective, we can experience inner-wisdom and clarity, so I invite you to join me on this magic carpet ride.
It’s okay that you didn’t know what a new computer monitor looked like then; you had never seen one before.
If your classmates and teacher were asked a question about the Korean language or culture, do you think those who were never exposed to it would know the answer?
Of course not. So would that make them stupid, dumb, or less smart? Of course not.
While most kids in your class (as well as your teacher) probably grew up focusing on the English language and the American culture, you were juggling both the English and Korean languages and cultures.
That’s even a very challenging task for a grown adult to handle since the Korean language alone is within the category of the most difficult languages to learn.
So even though it may have appeared as though you weren’t nearly as smart as your peers throughout your 12-year school system—to include having to take “special classes” in elementary school—you (as your Multidimensional Self/integrated Soul/Spirit) were actually preparing self to make leaps and bounds in consciousness at various junctures of your life.
For instance, you had to take special handwriting class in elementary school—which you dreaded since 1) it was embarrassing to be the few that gets pulled out of class often, and 2) you didn’t believe you could ever write neatly—but what happened since then?
You’ve been complimented many times throughout your life about your beautiful handwriting, which you even admire. True?
This seemingly small experience has helped you to learn more of what you are capable of, which was just a sample taste of what’s been coming, will continue to show up, and will one day be mind-blowing and awe-inspiring as you ignite all that is truly within you.
Always remember that Life works for you rather than against you. The benevolent, generous and unconditionally loving Universe within you fully supports your evolutionary journey on planet Earth and beyond many other dimensions/worlds/realities (to include dream state).
There’s no reason to be embarrassed about this situation because, as you can already see (from an expanded perspective), it’s completely understandable.
Kids laugh at a lot of things, whether it’s because they’re free-spirited and having fun, or they’re being mean-spirited (due to not being emotionally and spiritually developed and evolved).
Either way, by having the experience of others laughing at your “wrong answer,” and realizing that it didn’t feel so good, you chose not to laugh at others when they gave “wrong” answers or made “mistakes.” True?
Often times, when something is done to someone, it’s human tendency to do the same to others, shouting, “Well that’s how I get treated!”
However, in order for growth to happen, a light bulb moment must occur at some point that says, “Why would I want to hurt another in this manner, if it doesn’t even feel good when it’s done to me?”
You had this light bulb moment—and not only for this particular situation—so be very proud of yourself. I’m immensely proud of you! ^_^
Last but not least…when we have experiences of being “wrong,” “not knowing,” and even making “mistakes,” we can then deeply appreciate the experiences of being right, intuitively and confidently knowing, as well as trusting full-heartedly that every stepping stone in Life is a stepping stone of success/ the “right” path.
In addition, when you allow yourself to embrace being “wrong” (according to society) whenever, as well as not needing to be “right” whenever, you’ll soon discover how liberating it feels, and you’ll be further drawn to this amazing, free state of Being (your core essence).
And one magical and miraculous moment, you will effortlessly Be Free-Spirit (within a physical body) at every Moment of Now—unconditionally accepting/loving ALL aspects of your Authentic Self without any judgment, and fully doing so for interconnected Life throughout this Universe and beyond.
