2008, Arizona: I was in the middle of admiring and uncovering my first new, beautiful “rave red” car (Mitsubishi Eclipse), when an old lady approached me. She was apparently lost, and was looking for the bus station, which was a couple miles away from my apartment complex. I usually don’t offer strangers a ride, probably due to one too many shows about serial killers, but I trusted her because she was just an old lady. After I dropped her off, she thanked me and said, “May God continue to use you.” I knew then that it wasn’t a coincidence that we crossed paths. I was reminded, once again, to truly pay attention to my surroundings, because God communicates with us all in many different ways, whether it’s through our thoughts, feelings and intuition, other people, nature, events, books, media, etc. It’s just a matter of whether or not we choose to listen, trust and believe. Instead of only relying on other people’s experiences, especially from thousands of years ago, we can actually develop our faith from our own personal experiences as well.
