3 or 4 years old: Bobbie’s mother was washing Bobbie’s hair in a large bowl (Korean style of washing hair). Bobbie doesn’t recall why or how, but all of a sudden, Bobbie’s mother shoved her head into the bowl of water and kept it there for a few seconds. She let Bobbie come up for a breath…and then again…did the same thing. Bobbie recalls going into panic mode and trying to grab onto things. It happened a couple more times, and Bobbie doesn’t remember what happened afterwards. It was something her and her mother never talked about. Bobbie used to convince herself for many years that it was nothing but a bad dream. But the dream felt so real. Why doesn’t it just go away? Because it was real. Later on in life, Bobbie often wondered what had triggered her mother’s crazy-ass behavior.ย Herย mother was more than likely very hurt and frustrated.
